Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA junior Tasha Schwikert has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for January 8-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Schwikert, who hails from Las Vegas, Nev., recorded season highs in the all-around and on all four events in the meet against Stanford on Mon. Jan. 15. Schwikert won the all-around with a 39.575 and scored victories on the floor exercise (9.925) and vault (9.900). She also tied for second on uneven bars (9.875) and placed third on balance beam (9.875). Schwikert led the Bruins as the highest all-around finisher against Utah on Fri., Jan. 12, scoring 39.225 to place third. She also tied for first on floor exercise with a 9.9. Thus far this season, Schwikert is averaging team-highs on vault (9.867), floor (9.900), and all-around (39.183).

UCLA is currently ranked seventh in the national standings. The Bruins' next meet is against San Jose State and Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton on Fri. Jan. 19. The Bruins return home just two days later for a dual meet match-up against Arizona on Sun. Jan. 21.

This is Schwikert's second career Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week honor.
