UCLA Gymnastics To Hold Annual Meet The Bruins Event Nov. 23

Admission is free to the event, which features exhibition performances, Q&A, autograph opportunities.

Nov. 3, 2008

The UCLA gymnastics team will conduct its annual "Meet the Bruins" event on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2:00 pm in the John Wooden Center on the UCLA campus. Admission is free to the public.

Spectators will be treated to exhibition performances and skills demonstrations from the five-time NCAA champion Bruins. Fans will get a sneak preview of UCLA's renowned floor exercise routines, which are choreographed by Bruin head coach Valorie Kondos Field. Also taking place during the event will be question and answer sessions with the gymnasts and UCLA coaches. Fans will also be given a crash course in Gymnastics 101 by Professor Waller, who will walk through the set up of a collegiate meet and the mechanics of routines and how they are scored.

After the exhibition, spectators can obtain autographs and have pictures taken with the Bruin gymnasts. Season ticket and support group membership information will be available throughout the afternoon. Season tickets can also be purchased now for just $35 through the UCLABruins.com website.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a 2009 Team Photo Card, and there will also be several chances to win 2009 UCLA Gymnastics meet tickets.

The 2009 Bruins feature returning All-Americans Kristina Comforte and Anna Li and All-Pac-10 honoree Ariana Berlin. UCLA also welcomes a strong freshman class, led by 2008 Olympian and 2006 World Championship medalist Elyse Hopfner-Hibbs and three-time Level 10 national all-around champion Vanessa Zamarripa.

The Bruins' regular season begins on Jan. 9 at Utah. The first regular season home meet takes place on Jan. 18 against Arizona.
