So far it's been a great weekend. We competed up at Oregon State on Friday. We mixed up our line-up a bit, then continued to mix it up some more when we decided to take Kate Richardson off three of the events because she came down with the flu. I was excited to see our athletes who haven't had an opportunity to compete yet come in and compete with confidence. Way to go Walker! It was nice to see Courtney compete so well after being out most of last year with a nagging sprained ankle. Her floor routine was spectacular.

The meet was also a great experience for our team to practice keeping their focus on their gymnastics and not on the scores. For those of you who are wondering why the scores were lower in this meet than in the last one, I'll refrain from commenting on that and opening that Pandora's box until later in the season when we can get a clearer picture of how the judging in collegiate gymnastics will iron out.

Our trip continued to be exciting as we had trouble getting out of Oregon due to the ice storm that was playing havoc with the roads, airplanes and runways. It was truly a team bonding experience for us hanging out in the airport all day. Actually, it was kind of fun. You make the most of what you've got at the moment, right?!?

We have our first home meet tomorrow at 2 pm. There are such great memories from the last time we competed in the arena. Hope to see you there tomorrow as we try to create new magic this year in Pauley Pavilion!
