Post season... Where are we now?

Of course recruiting, recruiting, recruiting ... and ...

I am at SeaWorld, San Diego, choreographing three of their "human" shows. Performers in the day show, Cirque de la Mer, include Malia Jones, one of our infamous Fab Five, Julie Houk from the University of Nebraska, Nathan Blair from the University of Iowa, and Lynn Schwaebe from UC Davis. The night shows include our own Kristen Maloney, Yvonne Tousek, and Ashley Martin, as well as Kelly Mathiasen from Cal State Fullerton; Mace Patterson from the University of Nebraska; Ivan Flores, who was a national champion of Mexico a few years ago; and Adam AhQuin gymnast/dancer extraordinaire. Along with these amazing athletes, we have world class rhythmics, a specialty act from China, five percussionists, and the always stunning artistry of the Culture Shock dancers. The shows are high energy, lots of dance, incredible staging and lighting, and yes ... Maloney blasts her double layout fullout on the fast track every show. The shows open Memorial Day weekend. Cirque de la Mer runs seven days a week. And the night shows run weekends only until June 17th - then run every night.

Marshall Nelson is currently in rehearsals at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove. They are producing a major production of the Creation Story, in which Marshall plays Adam. From what he reports, it is truly a spectacular production in every aspect of the show. That opens June 9th. Can't wait to see this!

Chris Waller is preparing to run our UCLA Camp June 27-July 1 and is excited to bring back his boys and girls Gym Jam camp, to be held at UCLA July 3-July 8. He is also finishing the final details on the lease of a building to open his very own gym with his wife Cindy, to be called Waller's Gym Jam Academy.

In the midst of all of this, our student-athletes are working hard at getting healthy, stronger, and trying to keep their enthusiasm in check for the next competition season (after all it is "only" 7 1/2 months away). They are also enjoying their spring quarter in school as somewhat "normal" students.

Off to another rehearsal at the land of Shamu ... ah 5,6,7,8 ...
