UCLA Women's Rowing Opens With Wins Over LMU

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - The UCLA women's rowing program opened its spring season by sweeping three races against Loyola Marymount on Saturday morning.
Coming off the heels of the program's best-ever finish at NCAA Championships in the spring of 2012, UCLA opened its 2013 season with strong performances in all three races.
The Bruins' varsity eight bested LMU by over 21 seconds, while UCLA's second varsity finished its race 3.4 seconds ahead of the Lions' first eight.
UCLA also raced a third varsity eight and novice eight, with both crews finishing ahead of LMU's second varsity eight. The Bruins' third varsity finished in 6:42.10, while the novice eight posted a time of 6:54.90, more than 11 seconds ahead of LMU's time (7:06.40).
The Bruins' varsity four and novice four crews crossed the finish line ahead of LMU's varsity four. UCLA's varsity four finished the race in 7:41.90 and the novice four posted a time of 7:56.60.
UCLA will return to action in Marina del Rey, Calif., against Gonzaga on Saturday, March 16.
