Syverson and Alexander Named Pocock All-Americans
June 5, 2012
Los Angeles, Calif. - Junior Britta Syverson and senior Anastasia Alexander were named to the Pocock All-America Team, as announced by the CRCA today. Syverson secured first-team honors while Alexander was named to the second team. Syverson, a junior from Minneapolis, Minn., has earned All-America honors for the second time in her career, previously being named to the second team as a freshman back in 2010. This season, she earned first-team CRCA West All-Region honors and was an All-Pac-12 selection for the second consecutive year. Syverson has rowed in the varsity eight boat in every one of UCLA's races this year and helped lead the Bruins to an eighth place finish at the NCAA Championships in May, their best finish in program history. Syverson, along with Alexander, helped row the varsity eight to a win in the Petite Final at the NCAA Championship as well. This is the first time that Alexander, a senior from Long Beach, Calif., has been named to the CRCA Pocock All-American Team. Like Syverson, she earned West All-Region honors from the CRCA and was an All-Pac-12 selection in 2012. Alexander has also rowed with the varsity eight in every race for the Bruins this season and helped the team to program-best finishes at the NCAA Championships (8th) and the Pac-12 Championships (3rd).
