First-Team Selection Cheney Leads Bruins' All-Pac-10 Honorees

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Forward Lauren Cheney became the first UCLA player in history to earn first-team All-Pac-10 honors four years in a row, as the conference released its end of the year awards on Wednesday. Cheney, who is tied for first on the team in scoring with 32 points (13g, 6a), was the Bruins' only first-team selection this year. Forward Sydney Leroux, who also has 32 points (15g, 2a), was a second-team selection. She was joined on the second team by defenders Lauren Wilmoth and Lauren Barnes. Defender Dea Cook and forward Kristina Larsen received honorable mention acclaim, while freshmen Zakiya Bywaters and Chelsea Cline were named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team. Stanford swept the major awards this year, with forward Kelley O'Hara being named Pac-10 Player of the Year, midfielder Mariah Nogueira was named Freshman of the Year and head coach of the Cardinal, Paul Ratcliffe, was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year.
