SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Senior GiOnna DiSalvatore's two-out single up the middle in the bottom of the sixth inning broke up Whitney Canion's no-hit bid, while junior Marti Reed drove in the Bruins' lone run on an RBI single to right in the seventh, as the sixth-ranked Bruins fell to Baylor 5-1 in their second game on Friday at the Campbell/Cartier Classic.

The Bruins fall to 14-4 with the loss, while the Bears improve to 17-1.

Senior Donna Kerr fell to 5-1 on the season, striking out seven and allowing four runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings. Freshman Jessica Hall tossed 2 2/3 frames of relief, fanning three and giving up a run, three hits and a walk. DiSalvatore, Reed and freshman Kellie Fox combined for the Bruins' three hits.

Baylor took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the fourth. With one out, Megan Turk doubled to center and came home one out later on a double to left-center by Canion.

The Bears broke it open with three in the fifth. With one out, Kathy Shelton singled up the middle and scored on a triple to left-center by Kayce Walker to make it 2-0. Dani Leal followed with a bunt single in front of the circle to bring home Walker for the Bears' third run. One out later, Turk doubled to left-center to score Leal and put Baylor on top 4-0.

In the seventh, Leal hit a 2-1 pitch over the left-field wall to make it 5-0.

The Bruins got on the board in their last at-bat. Fox singled to left and advanced to second on a fielding error. One out later, junior Dani Yudin walked to put runners at first and second. After the second out of the inning, Reed poked a single to right to plate Fox to make it 5-1.

The Bruins finish up play in San Diego on Saturday, facing San Diego State at approximately 6 p.m. and Cal Poly 30 minutes after that. Gametracker will be available at UCLABruins.com.
