LAKEWOOD, Calif. - Senior Samantha Camuso provided the only offense the 17th-ranked Bruins needed on an RBI double and a solo home run, as freshman Ally Carda and sophomore Jessica Hall teamed up for a one-hit shutout in UCLA's 2-0 victory over Utah State in its second game on Sunday at the Long Beach State Invitational at Mayfair Park.

The Bruins improve to 20-6 overall, while the Aggies fall to 8-13.

Carda earned her second win of the afternoon to move to 9-2 on the year, striking out six and allowing just one hit and one walk in five innings. After a leadoff walk to open the game, she retired 10 in a row, and overall set down 15 of the 17 batters she faced. Carda had 1-2-3 innings in the second, third and fifth and fanned a pair in the third and fourth.

Hall was outstanding in relief for the second straight game, tossing two perfect innings for her third save of the year and second of the day. She fanned four, including two in both of her innings.

Camuso had two of the Bruins' three hits, as junior B.B. Bates had the other on a single.

The Bruins got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second. Bates walked to open the inning, stole second and scored on a double to center by Camuso to make it 1-0.

Camuso made it 2-0 in the fourth when she hit a one-out homer to center for her sixth jack of the season.

The Bruins are off from game action for the next two weeks until Sunday, March 25 when they travel to UC Santa Barbara for a single game at 1 p.m.
