ENSCHEDE, Netherlands - Sophomore-to-be Megan Langenfeld and incoming freshmen GiOnna DiSalvatore, Monica Harrison, Donna Kerr and Katie Schroeder led the USA Softball Junior Women's National Team to gold at the ISF Junior Women's World Championship.

Team USA won the title game against Japan on Saturday (June 30) by a score of 3-1 to finish off a perfect 10-0 record at the Championships. The United States hit .429 during the tournament, scoring 88 runs and belting 22 doubles, 10 triples and two home runs. They outscored their opponents 88-4, allowing just one earned run in 59 innings.

Langenfeld, a second-team All-Pacific Region selection as a freshman, had a pair of doubles, scored four runs and was third on the team with five walks. In the circle, she appeared in two games, pitching four innings of relief and allowing just two hits while striking out four.

Four members of UCLA's recruiting class also starred on the team. Schroeder (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) was one of only four players to play in all 10 contests, hitting .316 (6-for-19) with a home run, six runs scored and five runs batted in. Harrison (Garden Grove, Calif./Pacifica HS) started all eight games she appeared in, hitting a robust .520 (13-for-25), which was third on the team. Her nine RBI were second on the team, with Harrison also adding seven runs scored, two doubles and two triples. DiSalvatore (Palm Harbor, Fla./Countryside HS) had five hits in 13 at-bats for a .385 average, scoring three runs and driving in three in six games. In the circle, Kerr (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry HS) did not allow a run in five appearances, going 1-0 with a save and 18 strikeouts in nine innings. She allowed just two hits and three walks.
