Federal Way, WA - In the final day of the Pac-10 Men's and Women's Diving Championships, hosted by UCLA at Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center, Arizona State's Trish Tumlinson and USC freshman Michael Hilde won the platform. For the Bruins, junior Janine Strack and sophomore Paige Thompson advanced to the finals.

Tumlinson won the platform title this afternoon, scoring 433.65. It is her second Pac-10 title, as well as the second ASU women's Pac-10 diving title ever. On Thursday, Tumlinson won the three-meter springboard title, scoring 520.95.

"I came here expecting to dive well," said Tumlinson. "Winning twice is the coolest thing ever. I'm just excited to have scored some points for the team."

Stanford's Sara Bowling was the runner-up, scoring 397.30. And, Arizona freshman Mary Yarrison was third (377.30).

For the Bruins, Strack and Thompson each qualified for the final. Strack placed sixth (367.40) and Thompson was eighth (316.55). In the prelims, Sara Clark finished 10th (315.75) and Amanda Blong was 13th (291.65). It was the first platform competition for both Thompson and Blong.

On men's platform, the USC Trojans placed first and second. Freshman Michael Hilde won the event, scoring 513.00. Trojan junior Ray Vincent was second (470.50) and Cal junior Louie Gagnet was third (469.50). All three divers are products of the Mission Viejo Nadadores program and grew up training and competing alongside each other.

"It feels good to win my first Pac-10 title," said Hilde. "It gives me confidence going into the NCAA Zones. I've grown up competing against a lot of these guys and know that the competition was good. Competing and winning against such tough competition is good. It gives me a lot of confidence."
