College Station, TX - At the conclusion of the 2004 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, held at Texas A&M's Student Rec. Center Natatorium, the UCLA Bruins finished seventh overall with 195 points. Auburn won its third consecutive NCAA title with 569 points. Georgia was the runner-up with 431 points, followed by Arizona in third place with 369 points. Rounding out the top-five were Florida and Stanford, with 253 and 237 points, respectively.

In tonight's action, the Bruins set new school records in all five final events. Freshman Katie Nelson kicked things off in the 1500m Free. She finished eighth in 16:06.91, breaking her old school record of 16:21.37. Freshman Jane Imagane also competed in the 1500m Free. She finished 23rd in 16:29.43.

In the 200m Back, senior Naoko Watanabe finished 15th in 2:11.86. During today's prelim, she set a school record of 2:11.70. Watanabe had set the former record of 2:12.73 earlier this season.

In the 100m Free, senior Sara Platzer placed fourth in 54.59. During the preliminary this morning, she set a school record of 54.57, breaking the previous record of 54.68 set by Keiko Price in 2000. And, in the 200m Fly finals, sophomore Kim Vandenberg finished sixth in a school record 2:07.78. Vandenberg had set the previous school record of 2:08.61 earlier this year. Senior Kristen Lewis also competed in the 200m Fly, finishing 11th in 2:11.05 (2:10.56 prelim).

To end the NCAA Championships, the Bruins finished eighth in the 400m Free Relay. Senior Malin Svahnstrom (55.95), Vandenberg (56.35), Platzer (54.59) and freshman Amy Thurman (56.80) finished in 3:43.69. In today's prelim, the group set a new school record of 3:42.44. Earlier this year, the group had set the school record at 3:44.03.
