Bruins Wrap Up Weekend in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The Bruins finished up their weekend in Austin, Texas at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships on Saturday. Sophomore Noelle Tarazona and junior Anna Senko reached the podium in the 200 Butterfly, as did the 400 Freestyle Relay squad.
Between the morning and evening sessions, the 1650 Freestyle was contested, as junior Lauren Baker swam a time of 16:15.63. The mark was 12 seconds off her personal best and the third fastest time in UCLA history.
In the 200 Backstroke, senior Laurence Delisle just missed out on the championship final with a time of 1:56.58. Junior Jesse Bergman also made the B final and had a lifetime best time in the prelims with a 1:57.62.
In the 100 Freestyle C final, junior Kathryn Murphy bettered her personal best, which was already second in the UCLA record books, as she swam a 48.68 to win the heat.
Sophomore Jessica Khojasteh also set a lifetime best in the C final of the 200 Breaststroke, shaving nearly three seconds off that mark with a time of 2:14.06.
The Bruins would have a double-podium finish in the 200 Butterfly, as Tarazona had a lifetime best 1:55.95 to finish third, just .01 seconds behind UCLA alum Kim Vandenberg. Senko added her third individual podium appearance of the weekend, placing eighth at 1:58.52.
Another relay squad closed out the meet with a podium appearance as junior Ting Quah, Murphy, Delisle and Khojasteh finished fifth in the 400 Freestyle with a time of 3:17.85.
As a team, the Bruins finished fourth behind USC, Arizona and Texas.
The 2012 portion of the swimming and diving season concludes this weekend and the slate picks back up after the new year with the Bruin Diving Invitational (Jan. 11-13) at Spieker Aquatics Center and a tri-meet with Kansas and San Diego State on Jan. 12 at Spieker at 12 p.m.
