Swimming Olympic Trials Begin on Monday

The 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials for swimming begin on Monday and run through July 2 in Omaha, Nebraska, and several current and incoming Bruins will be in action.

Kim Vandenberg, a 2008 Olympian and Bruin alum, will also be in action as she competes in the 100/200 butterfly and 200 free.

Current Bruins and 2012 graduates competing at the Trials include Emily Andelson (100 backstroke), Bianca Casciari (100/200 butterfly), Stephanie Christofferson (100 butterfly), Laurence Delisle (200 backstroke/200 freestyle), Cynthia Fascella (50/100 freestyle), Allison Gargalikis (100 breaststroke), Yasi Jahanshahi (100/200 butterfly, 200 backstroke), Kathryn Murphy (50/100 freestyle), Andrea Reigel (100/200 backstroke, 200 IM), Anna Senko (200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 IM), Annie Stefanec (100 backstroke), Noelle Tarazona (100/200 butterfly, 200/400 IM) and Emily Weir (100 breaststroke).

Incoming freshmen competing include Katy Campbell (400/800 freestyle), Katie Kinnear (100/200 butterfly, 100/200 backstroke), Megan Rankin (400/800 freestyle, 400 IM, 200 butterfly) and Arlyn Upshaw (200 IM).

Amanda Beard, who will be attempting to qualify for her fifth Olympic Games, will also be in action (100/200 breaststroke). She trained with Team Bruin and Head Coach Cyndi Gallagher for the 2004 Beijing Olympic Games.

Keri Hehn, who trains with Coach Gallagher's Team Bruin, will also be competing at Trials in both the 100/200 breast. She finished behind Beard in the 2004 Trials. Hehn is a full-time teacher at the Buckley School.

There will be prelim rounds for all events beginning each morning at 10:00 am (CT), followed by semifinal rounds or event finals in the evening (6:45pm CT).
