UCLA Qualifies for USTA/ITA National Team Indoors

LOS ANGELES - The No. 2 UCLA women's tennis team qualified for next month's USTA/ITA National Team Indoors on Sunday, dispatching of Washington, 4-0 in the championship match of ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Sophomore Robin Anderson turned in her second dominating singles performance of the weekend against the Huskies on Sunday, downing 107th-ranked Grace Ysidora, 6-1, 6-0. Anderson, who is ranked sixth nationally, was also a 6-1, 6-0 winner over San Diego's Stephanie Hoffpauir against San Diego on Saturday. She is now 16-0 on the season. UCLA's other two singles wins came from sophomore Skylar Morton and freshman Catherine Harrison, as the two players lost just a total of three games in each of their matches. Morton downed Riko Shimizu, 6-1, 6-2 at court No. 6 to make it 3-0 UCLA. Harrison clinched the win at the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Julija Lukac to make it 4-0. The Bruins started the match by taking two of three doubles contests to take a 1-0 lead. Anderson and Morton, the nation's 16th-ranked doubles team, rolled to an 8-1 victory over Elianne Douglas and Shimizu at court No. 1. The point was clinched at court No. 3, where Kyle McPhillips and Chanelle Van Nguyen downed Julija Lukac and Andjela Nemcevic, 8-3. UCLA was leading 5-4 at court No. 2 when play was suspended. The 2013 USTA/ITA National Team Indoors will take place from Feb. 8-11 in Charlottesville, Va.
