Bruins Bounce Lions, 7-0

LOS ANGELES - The fourth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team upped its record to 4-0 on the season on Thursday with a 7-0 victory over Loyola Marymount at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins dropped a total of just four games in three doubles matches on the day, cruising to decisive wins at all three courts. Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton turned in a flawless performance at the No. 2 position, taking an 8-0 victory over LMU's Ashley Anderson and Tory Parravi. UCLA followed that up with an 8-1 win at court No. 1 and an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 spot. UCLA was equally as dominant in singles action, winning all six matches in straight sets. Wins by Pamela Montez at court No. 2 and Kaitlin Ray at court No. 4 put the Bruins ahead 3-0. Sophomore Morgan Thomas, who was playing in her first dual-match as a Bruin, posted the clinching win for UCLA, downing Ana Lucia Fuentes 6-3, 6-1 at court No. 6 to give the Bruins an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Anderson, Morton and Chanelle Van Nguyen also posted singles victories for UCLA. With the loss, the Lions see their record fall to 0-2 on the season. The Bruins will be in action at home again this Saturday, hosting Cal Poly at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 11:00 a.m. The match was originally scheduled to take place on April 18.
