No. 1 Bruins Blank Washington State, 7-0

LOS ANGELES - The No. 1 UCLA women's tennis team cruised in its 2012 Pac-12 opener on Friday afternoon at the Los Angeles Tennis Center, registering a 7-0 victory over Washington State. The win keeps the Bruins' undefeated record intact, as UCLA moves to 13-0 overall. With the loss, the Cougars see their record fall to 9-3. UCLA notched straight-set victories at all six singles courts on Friday. The only match at the day between ranked opponents came at the No. 1 position, where fifth-ranked Robin Anderson lost just two games en route to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over 72nd-ranked Liudmila Vasilieva. Anderson was also a winner in doubles, teaming with Skylar Morton at court No. 1 to defeat Andjela Kankaras and Vasilieva, 8-4. Senior Carling Seguso made her 2012 dual-match debut on Friday, as she filled in for Morton at court No. 4 to register a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ksenia Googe. Other singles winners for the Bruins on the day were McCall Jones, Pamela Montez, Chanelle Van Nguyen and Kaitlin Ray. For Ray, it marked her team-leading 20th match of the season, as she extended her winning streak to 17. Van Nguyen also picked up her team-leading 13th dual-match victory. UCLA has two days off before playing its final non-conference match of the regular season on Monday, as the Bruins are scheduled to host Pepperdine at 1:30 p.m.
