No. 5 Baylor Holds Off No. 9 UCLA, 4-3

WACO, Texas - Lenka Broosova won a second-set tiebreaker to defeat Andrea Remynse, 6-3, 7-6 (5) on court two as the fifth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team held on to defeat ninth-ranked and defending national champion UCLA on Saturday afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center. UCLA (13-3) took an early 1-0 lead after winning the closely contested doubles point. Nina Secerbegovic and Kasia Siwosz defeated Nina Pantic and Ashley Joelson, 9-7 on court three before fifth-ranked Yasmin Schnak and Remynse downed No. 24 Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi, 8-6 on court one. In the deciding doubles match, No. 76 Stephanie Wetmore and Carling Seguso won a tiebreaker over No. 55 Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk, 9-8(4) on court two. Secerbegovic made quick work of Joelson on court five, winning 6-2, 6-0, to even the match at 1-1. No. 73 Borsanyi defeated No. 112 Pantic, 6-4, 6-1, on court four to put Baylor in the lead. Baylor won its third-straight singles match as No. 34 Stanivuk rolled over No. 81 Maya Johansson, 6-0, 6-1, on court three. No. 19 Schnack defeated No. 32 Ormond in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, on court one, while Seguso downed Siwosz, 7-5, 7-5, on court six. With the match all square at 3-3, No. 46 Broosova rallied from a 5-1 second-set deficit to win over No. 27 Remynse to clinch the match. UCLA's next match will be on March 27 against Stanford at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
