Bruins Down Utes, 6-1 in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY - The top-ranked UCLA women's tennis team won its 16th straight match on Sunday, dispatching of conference newcomer Utah, 6-1 in Salt Lake City. With the win, the Bruins improve to 16-0 overall and 3-0 in the Pac-12, while the Utes fall to 8-7 and 0-3 in conference play.
The win marked UCLA's second victory over Utah this season, as the Bruins also downed the Utes, 4-1 in the opening round of ITA Indoor Qualifying at the Los Angeles Tennis Center in late January.
UCLA swept doubles play for the sixth time this season on Sunday, cruising to wins at all three courts. McCall Jones, Chanelle Van Nguyen and Kaitlin Ray were the Bruins' straight-set singles winners on the day, while both Robin Anderson and Carling Seguso won after dropping sets.
Utah's lone point on the day came at court No. 3, where Callie Craig upset 119th-ranked Pamela Montez, 5-7, 6-3, (14-12).
UCLA returns home next week to host Washington and Washington State.
