No. 9 USC Edges No. 10 UCLA, 5-2 in Women's Tennis

LOS ANGELES -The No. 10 UCLA women's tennis team fell just short in its match against No. 9 USC on Friday, falling to the Women of Troy, 5-2 at the Marks Tennis Stadium on the campus of USC. The Bruins, who won the Pac-10 for the first time in program history a year ago, end the season with a 17-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play. USC improves to 20-2 and 8-0 in the Pac-10, winning its first Pac-10 title. UCLA's two points on the day came from singles wins by Yasmin Schnack (court No. 1) and Ashley Joelson (court No. 5). Schnack, ranked No. 15 nationally, downed 18th-ranked Maria Sanchez, 7-6(2), 6-2. Joelson, who clinched a 4-3 victory over the Women of Troy back on March 5, defeated 65th-ranked Alison Ramos, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. Ramos was also Joelson's opponent in the first meeting between the two teams. UCLA next heads to Ojai, Calif. for the Pac-10 Championships, April 23-26.
