College Station, Texas - UCLA women's tennis player Yasmin Schnack posted a straight-set victory in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships at Texas A&M's George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on Wednesday.

Schnack, a 9-16 seed in the 64-player singles draw, defeated Georgia's Yvette Hyndman, 6-3, 6-3 in morning singles action. Awaiting Schnack in the second round will be Miami's Bianca Eichkorn, who was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Baylor's Taylor Ormond on Wednesday.

Bruin sophomore Andrea Remynse, who had to face top-seeded Maria Mosolova of Northwestern in the opening round, extended her match to three sets before ultimately falling 6-3, 2-6, 6-1. Remynse is not finished competing in College Station, however, as she and teammate Yasmin Schnack are seeded third in the 32-team doubles tournament which begins on Thursday. The Bruin duo faces Kentucky's Carolina Escamilla/Caroline Lilley in the opening round.
