LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's and women's tennis teams were in action on Thursday, as play began at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Championships.

Playing over at UC Irvine, the UCLA men had three players reach the round of 32 in singles, following wins by fifth-seeded Marcos Giron, Dennis Mkrtchian and Warren Hardie.

The UCLA women, who are playing at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, had seven players reach the round of 32 on Friday. Top-seeded Robin Anderson was flawless in her second-round match, dispatching of Pepperdine's Megan Moore, 6-0, 6-0. Kaitlin Ray, who is seeded No. 10, also advanced without losing a game, beating Long Beach State's Anne-Sophie Willems by the same score.
