Los Angeles - Four members of the UCLA women's tennis team will get the chance to compete in a unique event this weekend, as the 2012 USTA Collegiate Invitational presented by adidas takes place from Nov. 2-4 at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Portland, Ore.

Representing UCLA in Portland will be freshmen Catherine Harrison and Kyle McPhillips, along with sophomores Chanelle Van Nguyen and Skylar Morton. In addition to UCLA, the event features collegiate players from the University of Portland, Washington, Michigan, Texas A&M, Duke and Georgia. What makes the USTA Collegiate Invitational unique is the participation of junior players from the USTA's High Performance Program. Eight of the best junior players in the country will be on hand to test their skills against college competition. In recent years, the UCLA men's tennis team has competed in a similar event up in Napa.

The winner of the event will receive a wildcard into a USTA Pro Circuit event, which will be designated by USTA Player Development at a later date. Results can be followed on twitter by using the hashtag #TennisTourny.
