Portland, Ore. - Members of the UCLA women's tennis team had a strong showing at the 2012 USTA Collegiate Invitational presented by adidas over the weekend, with Kyle McPhillips and Skylar Morton taking home the doubles crown, and McPhillips reaching the semifinals in singles.

The event featured players from eight universities across the country, and also included the top junior players in the nation from the USTA's High Performance Program. The players were broken into eight groups for round-robin play, with the winner of each group advancing to the adidas Shootout, which consisted of super-tiebreakers beginning with the quarterfinals.

After going undefeated in group play, McPhillips posted an 11-9 win over Nazari Urbini from Texas A&M in the quarterfinals. She then fell to Georgia's Maho Kowase, 10-6 in the semifinals.

UCLA's Chanelle Van Nguyen also advanced to the knockout stage, also falling to Kowase, 11-9 in the quarterfinals.

The doubles draw in Portland featured a traditional 16-team draw, with teams playing eight-game pro sets. McPhillips and Morton knocked off top-seeded Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring, 9-8(4) in the semifinals before taking home the title with a 9-7 victory over second-seeded Emina Bektas and Brooke Bolender from Michigan in the title match.
