Koressel, Price & Anumba Highlight Women's T&F in Pullman

The women's track and field team posted four event wins on Saturday at the Cougar Indoor in Pullman, WA in the first true indoor meet of the season. It was a scored meet with all participating teams going head-to-head. The women defeated Montana 57-49, but fell to host Washington State (68-51) and Utah State (59.5-54.5). Junior Allison Koressel cleared an indoor lifetime-best in the pole vault to win the event. Her mark of 13-5.75 moves her into the NCAA top 20 this season. Senior Tori Anthony was second (12-11.75), Courtney Reginato was third (12-6) and Tasha Kolbo finished eighth (12-0). Standout freshman Kylie Price started off her Bruin career with a win in the 60m as she ran 7.52 in the finals. She posted a faster time of 7.51 in the prelim rounds. Another freshman, Brea Buchanan, finished second in the 60m hurdles, but was the top collegiate finisher overall with a time of 8.58. She also finished fifth in the 60m (7.81/7/75 in prelims) and fifth in the 200m (25.94). In the 400m, Canadian frosh Katie Reid finished second overall with a time of 56.44. Sophomore Breyonna Hunter was fourth (57.59). Quarter-miler Briana Barlow got some middle distance work in during the meet as she competed in the 800m, finishing eighth overall (2:22.70). The 4x400m relay team of Tatum Souza, Price, Barlow and Reid finished third with a time of 3:52.97. In field event action, freshman Faith Anumba had a solid start to her Bruin career as she posted a win in the long jump (18-2.25) and second-place finish in the triple (38-9.75). In the high jump, newcomer Zibby Boyer finished third with a clearance of 5-6. UW Invitational In the 800m, sophomores Paisley Pettway (2:12.48) and Tiffany LaMar (2:14.16) finished 13th and 25th, respectively. In the 3000m, junior Katja Goldring finished 20th in the 3000m with a time of 9:48.47. The women's team will head to Nampa, ID for their next meet as they compete in the Bronco Open on Feb. 4. |
