UCLA Finishes Second at MPSF Indoor Championships

Seattle, WA - At the 2004 MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Washington at Dempsey Indoor Stadium, the Bruins placed second. Stanford won for the third consecutive year, scoring 148 points. Runner-up UCLA scored 109 points, followed by Washington with 83 points. Rounding out the Top-Five teams were Washington State (fourth, 73) and Arizona (fifth, 62).
Four Bruins were victorious today. Dawn Harper won the 60m hurdles in a provisional time of 8.19. In the pole vault, school record holder and national leader Chelsea Johnson vaulted 14-4.50 (4.38m). In the throwing events, the Bruins set a pair of meet records on the way to victory. Jessica Cosby threw a NCAA automatic 56-0.50 (17.08m) in the shot put. And, in the weight throw, Cari Soong won with a throw of 67-1.25 (20.45m).
This Saturday, March 6, UCLA will compete at the Last Chance Meet in Seattle. The Bruins will also kick off the 2004 outdoor season, hosting Cal Poly-SLO, Cal State LA and Fullerton at Drake Stadium.
