Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational Distance Carnival and Day Two Results

On Friday night (April 9) in collegiate women's open distance events, UCLA's distance runners performed well as redshirt freshman Jenna Timinsky placed first and sophomore Ashley Caldwell finished second in the 1500m; senior Melissa McBain was first and sophomore Alejandra Barrientos placed second in the 3000m and junior Carmen Winant won the 5000m. In the 1500m, Timinsky's winning time of 4:23.88 was a personal-best and NCAA Regional Qualifier and Caldwell's mark of 4:25.35 was also an NCAA Regional qualifier. In the 3000m, McBain's winning time was 9:23.88 and Barrientos came in at 9:28.35. In the 5000m, Winant's winning mark was 17:37.74 The 2nd annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational at UCLA's Drake Stadium continues on Saturday (April 10), with elite collegiate and professional athletes highlighting the all invitational field (9:15 a.m.) and track (12:15 p.m.) events. Hill's winning mark was 14.00 (2.0), a season-best and NCAA Regional qualifier. Roseby's winning time was 11.81.
