On Thursday (April 17) at the Mt. SAC Relays, UCLA senior Melissa McBain (Thousand Oaks HS) led the Bruins with a 12th place finish in the 5000m. Her time of 16:48.27 is a personal-best and NCAA Regional Qualifier.

McBain has been having an outstanding outdoor season. On March 29, she set the school record in the 3000m steeplechase (10:36.06). The mark is also No. 10 in Pac-10 history.

Other marks from Thursday's Mt. SAC Relays included -
-10,000m - sophomore Valerie Flores, 6th, 35:42.41; sophomore Carmen Winant, 17th, 36:40.89; sophomore Lori Mann, 18th, 36:46.92 (personal-best).

-Javelin - Karina Powell, 8th, 138-1 UCLA's women's team will continue competition this weekend at Mt. SAC, on Friday at Pomona and on Saturday at Long Beach.
