Storm Throws No. 2 Hammer Mark in UCLA History at Mt. SAC

Ida Storm catapulted into the Pac-12 record books on Friday after her career performance in the hammer at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut.
The Swedish sophomore came into the meet with a personal-best of 209-5 and far surpassed that with a monster throw of 217-6 to finish second overall. She was also the top collegiate finisher in the hammer. Her throw of 217-6 moves her to No. 2 in UCLA history and to No. 4 in the NCAA this season. The throw also moves her into the Pac-12 record books at the No. 9 spot all-time.
Also on Friday at Mt. SAC, sophomore Alexis Walker finished 10th in the high jump with a clearance of 5-7. In the pole vault (section A), junior Allison Koressel tied for seventh with a clearance of 13-1.50.
In the B section of the pole vault, sophomore Tasha Kolbo won the competition with a clearance of 12-11.50. Junior Liz Goodrich was fourth with a lifetime-best of 12-11.50, while sophomore Courtney Reginato finished 13th (11-11.75).
On the track, freshman Kylie Price ran a season-best of 11.71 in the 100m to finish ninth overall. Frosh Brea Buchanan finished 14th in the 100m hurdles (13.80) and sophomore Tamara Purpura was 79th in the 800m with a time of 2:16.20.
In the C section of the 5000m, freshman Kelsey Smith finished sixth with a lifetime-best run of 16:41.87.
UCLA wraps up competition at the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday.
The Bruins were also in action in Azusa at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Redshirt freshman Michelle Urabe won the pole vault competition with a clearance of 11-11.75, while junior Karlye Marshall tied for sixth (11-5.75) and three Bruins tied for 13th with equal clearances of 10-11.75 (Stevie Kennedy-Gold, Madison Stark and Elena Clarke).
On the track, freshman Ally Courtnall placed second in the 400m (54.21) and eighth in the 200m (24.29). Frosh Chelsey Washington was 38th in the 400m (1:00.11) and 47th in the 200m (26.03, season-best). Kylie Price, who competed at Mt. SAC and the Bryan Clay Invite, finished seventh in the 200m with a time of 24.22.
In the high hurdles, frosh Katherine Salcido placed third with a season-best of 14.13. Junior Danielle Low was 23rd in the 800m (2:17.45), while sophomore Tiffany LaMar was 29th (2:18.80). In the 1500m, Meghan Marvin was 34th (4:43.72), Elle Sanders placed 40th (4:47.76) and Allie Lopez was 48th with a season-best 4:50.11.
