Storm Earns All-Conference Honors in Hammer at Pac-12s

Sophomore All-American Ida Storm earned all-conference honors in the hammer on Saturday with her third-place finish on day one of the Pac-12 Championship in Eugene, OR. She started off the meet with a foul and then used a safety throw of 192-3 to advance to the finals. Once there, she posted her best throw in the fourth round (210-6) and held on for third.
Junior Turquoise Thompson won heat two and was second overall in the 400m hurdles (57.09) to advance to Sunday's finals. She will look to defend her back-to-back conference crowns from 2010 and 2011 on Sunday. Sophomore Alexis Walker finished 14th overall in the hurdles with a time of 1:01.02 and does not advance to the final.
In the 800m, sophomore Paisley Pettway advanced to Sunday's 800m final after finishing third in heat two and seventh overall with a time of 2:09.23. Junior Danielle Low was 11th overall and third in heat three with a time of 2:11.33, while sophomore Tiffany LaMar was 18th overall and fourth in heat two with a time of 2:12.73.
Freshman Brea Buchanan had a big day as she ran a wind-aided lifetime-best of 13.51 (+2.3) in the 100m hurdles to advance to Sunday's final. She was third in heat two and sixth overall. Heptathlete Tatum Souza was 15th (14.14), while frosh Katherine Salcido finished 20th (14.74). Souza also was competing in the javelin and long jump. She finished 17th in the javelin with a throw of 118-8 and 16th in the long jump (17-6).
In the 100m, freshman Kylie Price finished second in heat two and 11th overall (11.80), while Buchanan was sixth in heat two and 19th overall (11.99). Neither advances to the finals on Sunday. Price also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 20-9. Freshman Faith Anumba was seventh overall (19-9.50) as both picked up points for the team.
In the 1500m, junior Sarah Toberty finished eighth in heat one and 17th overall (4:34.31), while sophomore Rachel Butler was 10th in heat one and 20th overall (4:43.49). Neither woman advances to finals on Sunday.
Frosh Merissa Kado finished 19th in the steeplechase with a time of 11:06.87.
