Women's 4x400m Relay Concluded Its Competition At NCAAs
June 9, 2011
The women's 4x400m relay team were the sole competitors for the Bruin women on day two of the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, IA. The relay team of Joy Eaton, Ashlea McLaughlin, Briana Barlow and Lindsay Rowe finished sixth in heat one in a time of 3:37.79. A weather delay forced a halt to the meet before the third and final heat of the relay could run. The top two finishers in each heat plus the next two fastest times advance to Saturday's final.
The final heat of the 4x400m relay was run Friday morning due to bad weather on Thursday. After the final heat competed, the Bruins finished in 19th-place. All four women earned USTFCCCA Honorable Mention All-America honors. UCLA's usual anchor, Turquoise Thompson, did not run so she would be fresh for Friday's final of the intermediate hurdles.
On Friday, Thompson will be racing for UCLA's ninth NCAA crown in the 400m hurdles at 4:35 pm (PST). Earlier in the afternoon at 1:00 pm (PST), Ida Storm will be competing in the trials and finals of the hammer throw.
