Rhonda Watkins Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Rhonda Watkins of the UCLA women's track & field team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for June 4-10.

June 11, 2007

Sophomore Rhonda Watkins (Port of Spain Trinidad/Bishop Anstey HS) of the UCLA women's track & field team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for June 4-10.

Watkins capped off the 2007 season with her second NCAA title, winning the outdoor long jump competition with a wind-aided lifetime-best jump of 22-10. That mark would have set an NCAA meet record had it been wind-legal. With the win, Watkins became the first woman in UCLA history to win an indoor and outdoor long jump title in the same season. She also placed fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 6-0, becoming the first UCLA woman to earn All-America honors in both the high jump and long jump at the NCAA Championships.

This is Watkins' fourth UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.

Also nominated: Gavin Brooks, Baseball
