Junior hurdler Sheena Johnson (Stafford, VA/Garfield HS) of the UCLA Women's Track & Field Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of June 9-15.

Johnson captured the NCAA 400m hurdle crown Friday evening in a personal best 54.24, No. 2 in school history behind Janeene Vickers' 53.47 (1991). Johnson also set a new NCAA Championship meet record, breaking Ryan Tolbert's record of 54.24 (1997). It is also the top 400m hurdle time in the U.S. this year.

Johnson also competed in the finals of the 100m hurdles, placing eighth in a personal best time of 13.09, No. 4 in school history. Overall, she scored 11 of the Bruins' 28 points (10 in the 400m hurdles, one in the 100m hurdles) to help UCLA achieve an eighth-place finish. Johnson earned All-America honors in each event and has received a total of five outdoor All-America honors.

This is Johnson's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and her career.

Also nominated: Dan Ames (m. track & field)
