Dan O'Dell begins his second season as an assistant coach for the UCLA women's volleyball team in 2012 after helping guide the Bruins to a National title in 2011.
The Bruins went 30-6 last year and finished second in the Pac-12 standings with a 17-5 mark. UCLA recorded its 13th-straight, 20-win season and finished fifth in the nation in assists per set (13.71) and eighth in kills per set (14.52). O'Dell is in his third year with the program after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2010 and was promoted to full time in March 2011.
"I'm extremely thrilled to have Dan O'Dell remain with our staff in an elevated role," Sealy said. "He knows a lot about the sport technically and tactically and connects with the players very well. Dan is someone who was passionate about the sport as an athlete and that passion has carried over into his coaching. He wants to make a life in volleyball and I am grateful that life starts at UCLA."
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to join the UCLA women's volleyball program," O'Dell said. "UCLA Athletics has such a rich tradition and I'm thrilled to be a part of that. I learned a lot as a volunteer and I look forward to taking this greater role within the program."
O'Dell was a standout setter at Penn State from 2003-06, helping the Nittany Lions to four trips to the Final Four, including a National Championship appearance in 2006.
