Aaron Wexler returns to his alma mater to begin his first year as a volunteer assistant coach with the UCLA women's volleyball team.
"I'm grateful and humble for the opportunity to coach with this staff and happy to be back at my alma mater helping this team to become the best it can be," Wexler said.
Wexler was a libero on the UCLA men's team from 2002-05, appearing in four matches and recording five digs. He graduated from UCLA in 2006 with a degree in geography/environmental studies.
While at UCLA, Wexler earned a silver medal for beach volleyball at the 2003 Maccabiah Games. After his days as a Bruin, he competed on the AVP Tour in 2008, qualifying for the Hermosa Open. He was also a CBVA three-time Open winner.
Wexler's coaching career began in 2007-08 with Palisades Charter High, as he was the head coach of the JV boys' team and helped the varsity squad to a city title. He also worked with the Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club team and then moved on to the Sinjin Smith Volleyball Academy (2008-09). He currently works with Sunshine Volleyball, where he worked with the 16 Elite in 2010-11 and with the 15 Westside squad this year.
Wexler has also coached privately on the beach and has worked numerous camps and clinics.
