HONOLULU - The 10th-ranked UCLA women's volleyball team (4-0) opened the Waikiki Beach Marriott Challenge with a 30-21, 30-20, 30-26 victory over Cal State Northridge on Thursday night at Hawaii's Stan Sheriff Center. Junior Nana Meriwether hit .650 in the match with a team-high 13 kills in the victory.

Freshman setter Nellie Spicer set the Bruins to a .290 attack percentage as a team for the match, including a .344 clip (16 kills, 5 errors, 32 attacks) in game two. Meriwether was joined in double-figure kills by freshman Kaitlin Sather who posted 10 kills and 12 digs to go along with five of the team's nine service aces and two block assists in the match.

UCLA out-dug the Matadors by a 46-40 margin and the teams had seven blocks apiece in the match.

The Bruins return to the court at 7:30 pm Pacific Time on Friday night against Cincinnati. UCLA will then complete its Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic schedule on Saturday at 10 pm PT against the host Rainbow Wahine.
