Sept. 5, 2000
WALNUT CREEK, CA - UCLA junior outside hitter Kristee Porter was named the first Pac-10 Conference Player of the Week for women's volleyball, commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Tuesday.
Porter, a junior from Tyler, Texas, was named the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Clasic MVP after posting 73 kills (7.30 kills per game) and hitting .421 as she helped the Bruins to a runner-up finish with a 2-1 record over the weekend.
In UCLA's 3-1 victory over No. 19 Texas A&M on Sunday, Porter downed 33 kills, a new Bruin record for a three-game match. Even more impressive, her attack percentage for that match was .483 with 58 attacks and just five errors.
This is the third career honor for Porter, who won the award once as a freshman and once as a sophomore.
