No. 4 UCLA Women's Water Polo Advances to Tournament Title Match

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 4 UCLA women's water polo team advanced to the Stanford Invitational championship match by defeating No. 12 Michigan, 10-3, on Sunday morning at Stanford's Baker Pool.
Becca Dorst scored a game-high three goals to pace UCLA (6-0), which will face tournament host Stanford (5-0) on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 in the title match.
In all, UCLA received at least one goal from eight players. KK Clark added one goal, extending her scoring streak on the season to six matches.
The Bruins blanked Michigan (3-5) in the second half after the game was deadlocked, 3-3, at halftime.
Each team scored two goals in the opening quarter and one goal in the second period. UCLA controlled the second half, outscoring the Wolverines by a 7-0 tally to secure the 10-3 win.
UCLA last held an opponent scoreless in either half on March 5, 2011. The Bruins defeated Arizona State, 8-1, in that contest, limiting the host Sun Devils to one goal in the second quarter. It was the third time in Brandon Brooks' tenure as head coach (2010-12) that UCLA has held an opponent scoreless in one half.
Sunday morning's contest marked the second meeting between these two schools this season. Two weeks ago, UCLA outlasted Michigan, 10-8, in a Michigan Invitational contest at the Wolverines' Canham Natatorium.
Meagan Cobb, Lauren Colton and Kiki Golden each scored one goal for Michigan.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Dement recorded 10 saves in the cage for UCLA.
UCLA last faced Stanford in the 2011 MPSF Tournament semifinals, securing a 9-8 victory at San Jose State. That game marked Stanford's first and only loss of the 2011 season. The Cardinal entered the match having won their first 24 games of the season before ultimately winning the 2011 NCAA Championship two weeks later.
