No. 3 UCLA Women's Water Polo Defeats No. 9 SDSU, 9-4

SAN DIEGO - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team earned a 9-4 victory against No. 9 San Diego State in both teams' first MPSF match of the season Saturday afternoon at Aztec Aquaplex.
San Diego State (8-2, 0-1 MPSF) was led by Leanne Ford's two goals.
SDSU claimed a 1-0 lead on a five-meter penalty shot 15 seconds into the game, before UCLA scored three consecutive goals to close the opening frame.
The Bruins outscored the host Aztecs by a 3-1 margin in each of the first two quarters, securing a 6-2 lead by halftime.
UCLA added to its cushion with one goal from Hannah Sebenaler in the third quarter, while both teams each recorded two goals in the final period.
The Bruins won for the eighth time in nine matches this season, improving their record in road contests to 2-1.
Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Dement registered a season-high 12 saves for the Bruins. SDSU goalkeeper Kelly Campoli was credited with eight stops in the cage.
UCLA will face Cal State Northridge on Saturday, Feb. 25, in a first-round match of the UCI Invitational. Game time at UC Irvine's Anteater Aquatics Complex is slated for 11:30 a.m.
