No. 2-Seed UCLA Earns 9-5 Victory Over No. 7-Seed San Diego State

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Caitlin Dement recorded 14 saves to lead the No. 2-seeded UCLA women's water polo team past No. 7-seeded San Diego State, 9-5, in a first round MPSF Tournament match at Stanford University on Friday afternoon.
UCLA used a 7-1 scoring run that spanned the second through fourth quarters to break open a 2-2 contest and earn a 9-5 victory at Avery Aquatics Center.
The win sends the Bruins (19-3) to a semifinal match against No. 3-seed USC (20-4) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
UCLA led San Diego State, 2-1, after the first period. The Aztecs tied the game, 2-2, in the second period, before Donohoe scored with 1:30 to play before halftime, snapping the deadlock.
Goals from Greenwood and Clark put UCLA ahead, 6-2, as the Bruins pulled away from San Diego State. UCLA outscored SDSU by a 6-3 margin in the second half.
Anique Hermann scored three times to lead the Aztecs (21-10).
San Diego State goalkeeper Kelly Campoli registered eight saves in the cage.
Friday afternoon's win helped UCLA improve to 2-0 on the season against San Diego State. Previously, the Bruins earned an 9-4 victory in MPSF action at San Diego State on Saturday, Feb. 18.
