Bruins Continue Winning Streak

UCLA allowed just one goal through the first three quarters and established a 7-1 cushion in the fourth quarter. The win at Hawaii marked UCLA's 10th consecutive victory.
UCLA Impresses on Defense
Backed by starting goalkeeper Caitlin Dement, UCLA has limited its opponents to 4.94 goals per game, the second-lowest total among MPSF teams. Through the team's current 10-match winning streak, UCLA has allowed just 4.2 goals per game. The Bruins have allowed five goals or fewer in all but three matches this season.
KK Among MPSF's Top Scorers
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, senior KK Clark ranks second among MPSF players with 2.24 goals per game. She leads UCLA with 38 goals in 17 matches. Clark has scored in all but one match for the Bruins, having netted a season-high four goals in one game (vs. Indiana, Jan. 21). The resident of Atherton, Calif., enters this weekend's game against California with 149 career goals.
Player of the Week Selections
KK Clark has twice captured MPSF Player of the Week acclaim this season, while Caitlin Dement secured the weekly honor on March 5. Clark was named MPSF Player of the Week after UCLA went 3-0 at the Michigan Invitational the first weekend of the season and after leading UCLA to the UCI Invitational title on Feb. 26. Dement recorded 11 saves in UCLA's 6-5 win at USC on March 3 to earn the weekly award.
Bruins' Key Performers
Seven Bruins have registered at least 10 goals this season, while five players have each dished 10 or more assists. Becca Dorst ranks second on the team with 18 goals, having totaled 10 assists and 20 steals. Emily Greenwood has scored 17 goals and leads UCLA with 42 earned exclusions. Hannah Sebenaler and Sarah Orozco have scored 15 and 14 goals, respectively.
Bruins Stand Atop National Poll
UCLA was ranked No. 1 on Feb. 29, marking the first time that the Bruins have secured outright possession of the top spot since May 2009, after winning the NCAA Championship. UCLA and USC shared the number one ranking for two weeks prior to the NCAA Tournament in May 2010.
UCLA's Remaining Schedule
The Bruins have four regular-season contests remaining, and two of those games will count in the MPSF standings. UCLA is currently amidst a stretch of four consecutive road matches. The team's two remaining non-conference games this month are at UC Irvine (April 14) and Loyola Marymount (April 15) next weekend.
Looking Toward the Postseason
UCLA has won the MPSF Tournament the last two seasons and in four of the last five years. Stanford will host this season's MPSF Tournament the weekend of April 27-29. All eight MPSF teams earn a berth to the conference tournament, whereby the winner secures the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, to be played at San Diego State (May 11-13).
