2009 Men's and Women's Soccer Tickets
2009 Outlook
The defending Pac-10 champion UCLA Men's team will look to defend its conference title and continue its 26-year postseason streak with a strong mix of standout veterans and upstart underclassmen. The Bruins return seven seniors, including 2008 Pac-10 Player of the Year Michael Stephens, U.S. Under-20 National Team starting goalkeeper Brian Perk, and all-conference honorees Kyle Nakazawa, David Estrada and Danny Suits. The Bruins and 2008 Pac-10 Coach of the Year Jorge Salcedo also bring in the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation.
The 2009 UCLA Women's team is in the midst of an incredible run, having captured the last six Pac-10 titles en route to six straight appearances in the NCAA College Cup (Final Four). Olympians Lauren Cheney (U.S.) and Kara Lang (Canada) enter their senior years with hopes of leading UCLA to the school's first ever NCAA Championship in women's soccer. Cheney, a three-time All-American, has the chance of becoming the most prolific player in school history this upcoming season, as she is within striking distance of several career school records, including points, goals and game-winning goals. The Bruin defense also looks to play a key role in the team's success this season, as the unit surrendered just six goals in 25 matches last year. As usual, most of the country will be keeping a close eye on what happens in Westwood in 2009.
