November 10, 2016 | Men's Volleyball

UCLA men's volleyball coach John Speraw announced the signing of five student-athletes as of 11:15 a.m. on Nov. 10. Joining the Bruins for the 2018 season will be outside/opposite hitter Colin Bailey, middle blocker Grant Maleski, middle blocker Ian Parish, setter Adam Parks and outside hitter Alex Parks.

Bailey is a 6-6 outside/opposite hitter from Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, Calif. A three-year varsity starter, he is a two-time team MVP at TPHS. Bailey was chosen to the 2016 Junior Olympics All-Tournament team.

Maleski, a 6-9 middle blocker, is from Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Ill., and is a three-year team captain of his high school team and was the first freshman to make the varsity squad in the 40-year history of his school. He was named to the All-Area and All-Conference teams and is listed as one of the Top 25 Underclassmen to Watch by Volleyball Magazine.

Parish, a 6-9 middle blocker, attends Loyola High School in Los Angeles, where he won the 2016 CIF Southern Section CIF Championship with the Cubs and was named one of the Top 25 Underclassmen to Watch by Volleyball Magazine.

Adam Parks is a 6-4 setter from Oak Park, Calif. High School. He helped lead his team of the 2015 and 2016 CIF Div. 2 State titles. Parks has won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Junior Olympics and been named MVP of the Junior Olympics and MVP of the Division 2 CIF.

Twin brother of Adam, Alex Parks is a 6-3 outside hitter from Oak Park, Calif. High School. He helped his team to the 2015 and 2016 CIF Division 2 State titles. Alex has won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Junior Olympics.

"This is an outstanding group of student-athletes who will join us next year," said Coach Speraw. "They complement our current team at each position but more importantly they possess the character we look for in a Bruin.  We are extremely excited to welcome these fine young men and their families to UCLA and we all look forward to their development as student-athletes on and off the court."
