MVB Announces 2024 Schedule

Coach John Speraw and staff announced the 2024 UCLA men's volleyball schedule on Tuesday. The defending national champion Bruins open the season with a pair of matches in the Inaugural HBCU/SoCal Challenge against Fort Valley State (5 p.m.) and Morehouse (7:30 p.m.) on Jan. 4 in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom. The two historically black colleges and universities added men's volleyball as a sport in 2022 and play in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Both matches will be aired by the Pac-12 Network.
In all, UCLA will be featured on the Pac-12 Network for seven matches in the upcoming season. Home contests against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 25 (7 p.m.), Long Beach State on Feb. 10 (6 p.m.), Pepperdine on Feb. 14 (7 p.m.), Stanford on Mar. 29 (TBD) and on Apr. 13 against Concordia, Irvine (7 p.m.) are also slated for broadcast over Pac-12 Los Angeles and/or the Pac-12 Network.
In addition to the always competitive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) contests, the 2024 Bruin regular-season slate features non-conference battles on the road at Midwestern Collegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) powers Lewis (Jan. 11) and Loyola-Chicago (Jan. 13). The Bruins take on Big West Conference foe UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 25) in a home match up and hit the road for a contest against UC San Diego on the following night. The Bruins will also be challenged by Long Beach State and UC Irvine in a pair of home-and-home contests again this season. A couple of matches each with a pair of past National Championship teams from the MIVA, Ohio State and Penn State, are on the docket for mid-January, in the First Point Foundation Cup in Austin, Tx, and then again, in the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge, in early March, in Los Angeles.
The Bruins open defense of their 2023 MPSF crown with a series against the Pepperdine Waves on Feb. 14 at UCLA and Feb. 17 in Malibu. The Bruins will host league opponents from USC, Stanford (twice), Grand Canyon (twice) and Concordia, Irvine this season. UCLA will honor the 1981-84 Bruin National Championship teams at the USC match on Mar. 2 and salute the 1974 NCAA Championship squad at the Stanford match on Mar. 30. BYU welcomes the Bruins to Provo for a pair of MPSF contests on Feb. 23 and 24.
USC is the site for the 2024 MPSF Tournament from April 17-20 with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament. Long Beach State is scheduled to serve as the host school for this year's NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship event from April 28 to May 4.
