Women's Tennis Wraps at #ITARegionals

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Day three of the 2016 ITA Southwest Regional Championships has concluded and the fifth-seeded duo of Jada Hart and Ena Shibahara fell in the doubles quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Bruins wrap action for the weekend and return home.
After posting an 8-5 win over USD's Gemma Garcia and Maria Torres on Friday, Hart and Shibahara defeated Michelle Pits and Marina Hruba (Hawai'i) 8-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. There, the Bruins' run for the title was cut short by Pepperdine's Mayar Ahmed and Christine Maddox.

On the other side of the draw, Terri Fleming and Alaina Miller coasted past Arizona's Paris Corley and Lauren Marker, 8-1, on Friday. The duo then fell to Failla and Rianna Valdes (USC) in a tiebreaker in the round of 16.
In singles play, Hart registered consecutive straight-set wins in the rounds of 32 and 16 on Friday. The Bruin downed Maddox of Pepperdine, 6-3, 6-3, before ousting fourth-seeded Madison Westby (USC), 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals. On Saturday, Hart's run for the title was cut short by USC's Jessica Failla in straights.
Eleventh-seeded Miller defeated Pits (Hawai'i) in straight sets in the round of 32 on Friday morning. The Bruin sophomore then fell in the round of 16 to No. 7 seed Failla (USC) in a tight three setter.
After advancing to the round of 16 via a walkover, Fleming fell to Pepperdine's Ashley Lahey, 6-4, 7-5, on Friday afternoon.
The Southwest Regional Championships continue tomorrow with main draw singles and doubles.
