Cressy Falls in Semis to No. 27 Crystal

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Maxime Cressy's run for the singles title at the 60th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships came to an end on Sunday afternoon when he fell in the semifinals to third-seeded Nick Crystal of USC.
En route to the semis, Cressy did not drop a single set throughout three matches. The Bruin also ousted top-seeded Logan Smith (USC) in the round of 16. In Sunday's semifinals, Cressy fell to Crystal, 6-3, 6-4. Crystal is currently ranked No. 27 in the Oracle ITA Division I Men's National Singles Preseason Rankings.
In the consolation semifinals, Ben Goldberg downed USC's Jake DeVine in three sets. After edging his Trojan foe 7-5 in the first set, Goldberg fell 4-6 in the second. The Bruin went on to win the match in the third set super tiebreaker.
Goldberg faces Ryan Brown of LMU in Monday's consolation final. The match takes place at 11 a.m. PT. For results and updated draws, please visit the tournament homepage.
