Polyakova Wins 1-Meter at UGA Invite

ATHENS, Ga. โ The UCLA diving team continued its dominance at the UGA Fall Invitational when it posted four top-six finishes in the 1-meter final on Saturday evening.ย

In her first outing of the season, junior Maria Polyakova came away with the win when she registered the top score of 301.50.ย Polyakova finished 23.75 points ahead of Auburn's Alison Maillard in second.ย

Also in the top five, sophomore Eloise Belanger checked in at third, followed by junior Ciara Monahan in fourth.ย Belanger, who won the 3-meter event on Friday, tallied a 276.60, edging Monahan by .50 points.

After finishing sixth in the 3-meter final yesterday, Annika Lenz registered another sixth-place finish on Saturday.ย The senior posted a six-dive score of 270.10 in the 1-meter final.ย ย ย ย ย

Rounding out the Bruins competing in the evening session, sophomore Kat Friese placed 15th with a 233.80.ย

Five of the seven Bruins competing in the 1-meter event advanced to the finals from the prelims.ย Polyakova and Belanger went 1-2 in the morning session, while Monahan finished fifth.ย Also placing in the top 10, Lenz checked in at ninth.ย Friese just made the cut for finals, finishing 15th.ย Falling outside of the top 16 to advance, sophomores Madeline Russell and Traci Shiver placed 25th and 35th, respectively.ย

The UGA Fall Invite concludes tomorrow at Gabrielsen Natatorium with the platform event.ย Prelims begin at 7:30 a.m. PT, with finals set for 1 p.m PT.
