Bruins Earn #15 Seed, Will Host First Weekend

LOS ANGELES - UCLA earned the #15 national seed for the NCAA Championship and will host the First and Second Rounds this upcoming weekend at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins will entertain Austin Peay in their First Round matchup on Friday at 8 p.m., which will be preceded by a 5:30 p.m. contest between Denver and Cal Poly. The winners of Friday's affairs will play in the Second Round on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Bruins concluded their regular season on Saturday with a sweep of crosstown rival USC, their third win in a row, all by sweep, to finish with a 19-10 overall record. UCLA tied for fifth in the Pac-12 Conference standings with a 12-8 mark. The Bruins have never faced Austin Peay before, are 12-1 versus Cal Poly (last meeting in 1985) and 3-0 against Denver (last meeting in 2013).

Austin Peay (30-5), out of Clarksville, Tenn., claimed the Ohio Valley Conference's automatic bid by virtue of winning its third OVC Tournament title. The Governors are making their second NCAA Tournament appearance. Cal Poly (26-2) went undefeated in the Big West Conference at 16-0 to earn the league's automatic berth. The Mustangs will be making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007 and 15th overall. Denver (23-5) claimed the regular season and Summit League Tournament titles to earn the bid into the NCAA Championship. The Pioneers are making their fourth straight trip to the postseason.
