
Bruins Wrap Up NCAAs with School Record

INDIANAPOLIS -- Competition wrapped up Saturday at the 2017 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, but not before No. 19 UCLA was able to add some more points to its total for the week. Bruins made the finals of the 100 Free, the platform and the 400 Free Relay on the final day of events.
The top performer in terms of points, once again, came from the diving competition, as Eloise Belanger finished second in the "B" final and 10th overall, with a score of 273.75. The sophomore scored posted a 261.65 in the preliminary round, which was just 5.30 points back of a spot in the "A" final. Annika Lenz, meanwhile, scored 208.00 in her preliminary-round performance.
In swimming, Linnea Mack earned the Bruins their first points between the lane lines. The senior squeaked into the "B" final of the 100 Free event with a preliminary time of 48.10. She went on to outperform her morning time in the evening session, as she clocked in at 47.89 to earn the Bruins three points. It was just shy of her school-record time of 47.77, which she set at Pac-12 Championships.
The 400 Free Relay quartet of Katie Grover, Mack, Sarah Kaunitz and Madison White saved the best for last, as the team posted a school-record time of 3:15.09 in the preliminary round of the final relay event of NCAAs. The team's final-round time of 3:15.34 also topped the previous school-best time of 3:15.83, set in 2015 by Monica Dornick, Mack, Grover and White.
In other preliminary action, Madison White posted a time of 1:53.49 in the 200 Back, while Grover finished just outside of the finals with a time of 1:55.88 in the 200 Fly. In the 200 Breast, Emma Schanz clocked in at 2:12.27.
The Bruins wrapped up the week with a total of 48 points. They finished 20th overall and fifth among Pac-12 schools. Stanford secured the national title with a total of 526.5 points.
