LOS ANGELES โ The UCLA intramural fields was the focal point of the National Football League on Tuesday as representatives from all 32 teams observed the annual UCLA Pro Day. The NFL personnel in attendance included front office executives and coaches, including from several CFL teams.
The Bruin family showed up in force as UCLA NFL players Brett Hundley, Jordan Payton, Caleb Benenoch, Kenny Clark, Paul Perkins and Eric Kendricks were in attendance to show their support.
The UCLA Pro Day marked another chance for the Bruins who participated at the combine to once again showcase their talents in front NFL personnel.
Linebacker Jayon Brown used the extra time to better his combine performance. The Pac-12 leading tackler clocked an impressive 4.49 40-yard dash while also posting a 7.19 in the three-cone drill and putting up 20 reps in the bench press.ย
Conor McDermott, who checked in at 6-7 and 312 pounds put up 22 reps in the bench press.
The Pro Day also highlighted several Bruins that did not attend the NFL Combine as Kenneth Walker blitzed the 40-yard dash in a time of 4.26. Walker also lifted 225 19 times and was nearly flawless in his drill work.
Marcus Rios shined as the defensive back clocked a 4.47 in the 40, 4.16 in the 20-yard shuttle, a 7.19 in the 3-cone-drill on top of 18 reps on the bench.ย
Another Bruin who helped his stock was linebacker Cameron Judge. The Moorpark native clocked a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash. Judge also ran a 4.18 in the 20-yard shuttle; broad jumped 10-11, had a vertical of 36.5", posted a 6.69 in the 3-cone-drill and benched 19 reps at 225.
Versatile defensive back Randall Goforth ran a 4.53 40 and posted a 7.04 3-cone-drill time while massive defensive lineman Eli Ankou breezed through 31 reps of 225. Ankou checked in at 6-3 and 331 lbs. Ishmael Adams went through drills at wide receiver and defensive back and clocked a 4.45 40.
Many Bruins will continue to train on campus with Sal Alosi and join the likes of Anthony Barr, Kendricks, Hundley, Jeff Locke and Kai Forbath, to name a few, who return to Westwood to work under the guidance of Alosi.
After the workout Brown, Eddie Vanderdoes, Takkarist McKinley and UCLA head coach Jim Mora met with members of the media in attendance.
Spring practice will begin for UCLA on April 4. The Spring Showcase is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 and will be held on campus at Drake Stadium. The 2017 NFL Draft will run from April 27 until April 29 and will take place at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Penn.
